Well, our calendars tell us that it's November, even if Mother Nature is disagreeing. We know that everyone is enjoying the gorgeous weather, but we do want to remind everyone that we're less than a month away from December! We're getting down to the wire for those last few dates, and we won't be offering holds on any December dates, as of Tuesday!
First, let me introduce our rental spaces!
The Gymnasium: This is our largest space, and is perfect for events such as children's birthday parties, large family Christmas parties, church events, etc. This space can accommodate between 150 and 500 guests. Kitchen access is optional, as is liquor service.
The MPR: This is our medium space. It is wonderful for smaller family parties, baby showers, and adult birthday parties. This space can hold up to 100 guests for most events, but can only accommodate 50 for children's birthday parties. Kitchen access and liquor service are optional.
The Board Room: This is our smallest space, and is perfect for intimate family gatherings, including Christmas dinners, baby showers, and gender reveals. This room can hold up to 30 people, and includes a kitchenette area, with a sink and small fridge. Alcohol service is not available for this room.
With that out of the way, there are a few things that all prospective renters need to be aware of, with regards to December rentals.
Capacity: The gymnasium is reserved for groups that have 150 guests or more. Any group with fewer than 100 guests must book the MPR, while groups of 20 or less also have the option of booking our Board Room. We do understand that this will be frustrating for small groups looking to book the gym for more space, but there is a reason for this policy. We are an exceptionally busy facility, and we do book up to six events a day, during the month of December. If we accepted every request for a small party that wanted to book the gym, we would be unable to accommodate half of the requests we receive. We can always put a group of 50 people in a room meant for 500, but we cannot do the same in reverse and put 300 people in a room meant for 100. We do have to prioritize large groups in the larger space, simply because we have nowhere else we can have their events.
Times: We do offer two different time slots each day. There is a morning/early afternoon slot, which runs from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM, and a late afternoon/evening time slot that starts at 5:00 PM and can go as late as 1:00 AM. We do not book rentals between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00 PM, to allow our staff time to clean between events. Groups are NOT obligated to book the entire duration of the time slot, but there is a four-hour minimum in December.
Alcohol: We do offer alcohol service in either the MPR or gym. Alcohol service is not available in the Board Room. Renters wishing to have alcohol at their event will need to obtain a liquor permit from the LGCA, and there will be an additional cost for the event, which covers the cost of Sinclair Park providing a bartender for the event. This is a provincial law, and not a Sinclair Park rule. We can only accommodate one party with alcohol at a time, so please let us know right away if this is something you are looking to have at your event.
Holds: Sinclair Park generally offers holds for 72 business hours but, due to the increase in interest in December rental dates that occurs every autumn, this duration has been tinkered with. This is what the hold lengths will look like;
September 9th - October 14th : 48 Hours
October 15th - November 11th : 24 Hours
November 12th and Onwards: No Holds
