Sinclair Park is Hiring!

Sinclair Park is currently looking to hire a new staff member! We are an extremely busy Community Centre, and are looking for an additional staff member to work weeknights (Monday – Thursday). These shifts are primarily canteen work, as well as working with our sports groups. These are all evening shifts, and typically run from 3:00 – 10:30 PM.

Responsibilities:

The successful applicant's main job will be working with sports rentals, and helping run our canteen. The applicant will be responsible for multiple parts of the canteen, including running the till, stocking the canteen, and working the grill/deep fryer. For this reason, short order cooking experience is a huge asset! Training will be provided, and the applicant will be required to obtain their Food Handler's certification, at the cost of the Community Centre.

Applicants will be responsible for the transition of events taking place in the building. This will require the ability to lift more than 50 pounds on an occasional basis. The applicant will need to complete tasks such as moving volleyball poles, moving the basketball nets, and bringing out tables and chairs for spectators. There are occasions where the applicant will need to assist the rest of the staff in setting up for events, so the ability to lift the weight is a must!

All staff are responsible for answering the phone and assisting clients in that manner. Applicants must be fluent in English, including written, spoken, and understood. They must be able to speak English well enough to be understood by our multi-ethnic clients, and to understand them, in return. Many clients have English as a second language, so a strong grasp of English is essential.

As applicants will be working around children, all applicants must be able to pass a Criminal Record Check, as well as a Child Abuse Registry Check, complete with a Vulnerable Sector Check.

All applicants must have a reliable method of transportation. While we are located on a bus route, some shifts have start or end times outside of convenient bussing hours. Please take this into consideration when applying. This is a permanent position, and not a seasonal one. We are interested in applicants who plan to stay with our company for several years.

Salary: Minimum wage during training, with wages to rise once the applicant is able to work alone.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 15 - 30 per week

Salary: $15.30 - 19.00 per hour

Interested applicants can email their resume to sinclairparkcc@outlook.com. Resumes can also be dropped off at Sinclair Park from Monday - Thursday between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
